Turn Me Loose Ready For Return

Wednesday, 5th October 2016

Top-class Kiwi galloper Turn Me Loose is among the nominations for Saturday's Gr2 Schillaci Stakes (1100 metres) at Caulfield, reports NZ Racing Desk. "There's a decent chance he will run," said Murray Baker, who prepares the 5YO son of Iffraaj with Andrew Forsman. A winner of the New Zealand 2,000 Guineas as a 3YO, Turn Me Loose returned as a 4YO to establish himself as one of the premier milers in Australasia winning the Gr1 Emirates Stakes in the spring before tripling his Gr1 tally with victory in the Futurity Stakes in the autumn. His record currently stands at 7 wins from 15 starts for over $1.4 million prize money. Voted New Zealand's champion sprinter and middle distance horse last year, Turn Me Loose tuned up for his return by winning a 1000 metre trial at Avondale on 20 September and galloped between races at Te Rapa last Friday. "He seems to be back to his old self and is a very happy horse at the moment," Baker said. "He's a pretty good horse. He's like a big machine when he gets going and right up to the very best." Turn Me Loose holds big race entries in the $1 million Gr1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on 31 October, and the $1 million Gr1 Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington on 5 November.
