Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes Field & Barriers

Thursday, 6th October 2016

The final field has been declared and the barrier draw conducted for the $500,000 Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) to be run at Royal Randwick racecourse on Saturday. The Spring Champion Stakes has been won by some top-class 3YOs during its relatively short history - in addition to the race record holder and current Spendthrift Australia stallion Hampton Court, Gay Icarus won the inaugural running of the race in 1971, followed by other turf stars including Dundeel (2012), Savabeel (2004), Universal Prince (2000), Tie The Knot (1997), Nothin' Leica Dane (1995), Danewin (1994), Stylish Century (1989), Beau Zam (1987), and the legendary Kingston Town (1979). Yankee Rose, who is yet to be confirmed as a definite starter, is the current TAB favourite at $2.60.
