Oliver To Ride French Star In Cox Plate

Friday, 7th October 2016

Champion jockey Damien Oliver has been booked to ride star French galloper Vadamos in the Cox Plate, reports AAP. Oliver's decision to partner Vadamos means Kerrin McEvoy will now ride Lucia Valentina in the weight-for-age feature. The Andre Fabre-trained Vadamos improved his record to 8 wins (including the Gr2 Prix du Muguet & Gr3 Prix Messidor) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 Prix Jacques Le Marois) from 18 starts when scoring a dominant 1.5 length win in the Gr1 Prix du Moulin (8 furlongs) at Chantilly last month. The 5YO is preparing for his Australian debut at the international quarantine centre at Werribee where he cantered two laps yesterday morning. The 96th running of the Gr1 WS Cox Plate (2040m) will be run at Moonee Valley on 22 October.
