Rawiller Looking Forward To Winx Clash
Brad Rawiller has the toughest gig of any jockey in Australia tomorrow when his mount Black Heart Bart takes on superstar mare Winx in the Gr1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) in Melbourne. Winx has proven to be an unstoppable force in Australian racing over the past two seasons stringing together 11 straight wins, and only Black Heart Bart and the Lindsay Park-trained He Or She stand in the way of her extending that streak to 12. The Caulfield Stakes was reduced to a field of just three runners after four of the original seven entries failed to accept. But despite the small field, Rawiller said he still expects the race to be a testing mile-and-a-quarter. "When you are racing against a horse like Winx it is still going to be a pretty solid hit-out to the line," Rawiller told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "Hopefully this run will have him cherry ripe for Cox Plate day. I'm very excited with how he is going. After Saturday, Darren has two weeks until the Cox Plate so it will be up to him to work out what he has to do in between." He added: "There is no doubt that Winx is the best horse in Australia at the moment but you never know what will transpire in the next month. All I know is that my horse is going very well and I have complete confidence in him."
