Monday, 10th October 2016

At Caulfield in Melbourne, deceased dual-Derby winning stallion & former Coolmore shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a Group success when 6YO Irish-bred gelding Assign (Montjeu-Belesta, by Xaar) scored by 0.1 length for trainer Robert Hickmott in the $400,000 Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) for 3YO+, over 7YO French-bred gelding Big Memory (Duke of Marmalade-Nicara, by Nebos) & 5YO NZ-bred gelding Pemberley (Darci Brahma-Upstaged, by In the Wings). Owned by Nick & Lloyd Williams, Assign improved his record to 5 wins (including the Listed MRC Mornington Cup Prelude) and 4 placings (including the Listed MRC Harry White Classic) from 14 starts for $517,864 earnings. Assign is likely to attempt to qualify for the Melbourne Cup by running in the Bendigo Cup at his next start.
