Global Glamour Wins Gr1 Thousand Guineas
At Caulfield in Melbourne, Widden Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Star Witness (Starcraft-Leone Chiara, by Lion Hunter) celebrated an elite success when 3YO filly Global Glamour (Star Witness-Spectacula, by Testa Rossa) scored by 1 length for trainers Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott in the $500,000 Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow 3YO fillies I Am A Star (I Am Invincible-Star Band, by Dixieland Band) & Whispering Brook (Hinchinbrook-Artful Whisper, by Machiavellian). Global Glamour, who was a $65,000 purchase by James Bester on behalf of the It's All About The Girls Syndicate at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, improved her record to 3 wins (including the Gr1 Flight Stakes) and 1 placing (the Gr2 Furious Stakes) from 5 starts for $641,500 earnings. "She's an absolute star," co-trainer Adrian Bott said. "We saw her put it all together last start and she's taken it to another level today." Bott's co-trainer Gai Waterhouse praised the filly's buyer James Bester and was quick to celebrate the win with a large group of ladies on course. "There are a couple of options - maybe the Coolmore Classic [Gr1] - the mile race for fillies and mares and she's a Magic Millions horse and all of the ladies from around the world can catch up again there perhaps," she said. The $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas in January looks an ideal option for a star filly - on the second anniversary of her purchase on the Gold Coast.
