Jack Hobbs In Good Order: Gosden
Trainer John Gosden says Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs is thriving and is cautiously optimistic of a forward showing when he returns in Saturday's Gr1 Champion Stakes at Ascot, reports Blood Horse. The Godolphin-owned 4YO looked set for a lucrative 2016 campaign but suffered a stress fracture to his pelvis when pulling up on his seasonal reappearance in the Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket on 30 April. "We're very pleased to have him back on Saturday. It's not a particularly easy race to have him come back in! The field is not only deep but very strong. I don't think we're under any illusions," said Gosden. "He's had the summer off which has given him time to develop. With his sire they get better with age and time has benefited him enormously." He added: "He's in great order and is not the type to be ring rusty. He won first-time out as a three-year-old. But we're aware we're coming back in a fantastic renewal of the race."
