Brody's Cause Retired To Spendthrift

Wednesday, 12th October 2016

Dual Gr1 winner Brody's Cause (Giant's Causeway-Sweet Breanna, by Sahm) has been retired to stand at B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm next season, reports Blood Horse. Brody's Cause, who hails from the family of Secretariat, won 3 of his 8 starts for over US$1.1 million in earnings. His biggest wins were in the Gr1 Keeneland Breeders' Futurity (8.5 furlongs) and Gr1 Keeneland Bluegrass Stakes (9 furlongs), joining Carpe Diem as just the second horse since Round Table in 1957 to win Keeneland's top races for 2YOs and 3YOs. “Brody’s Cause ticks all the boxes in terms of the credentials needed to make a top sire,” said Ned Toffey, Spendthrift General Manager. “He’s one of the best-looking sons of proven sire of sires Giant’s Causeway that you’ll ever see, and he won prestigious Grade I races at two and three. We believe it’s another terrific opportunity to get in on a stallion prospect with huge potential through our Share The Upside program, and we expect he’ll be popular.”
