Vadamos Impresses Oliver

Wednesday, 12th October 2016

Damien Oliver believes that star French galloper Vadamos has the class to test Winx and Hartnell in Saturday week's Gr1 WS Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley, reports racing.com. The champion Melbourne jockey partnered the last start Gr1 winner in a piece of fast work at the international quarantine centre at Werribee on Tuesday morning, and walked away impressed with the hit-out. "He was very strong and quite keen in his work," Oliver said. "He's a beautiful big, strong horse and you can see he's got a touch of class about him." "It's always difficult to line them up from the other side of the world but he's a last-start Group One winner so you've certainly got to respect him." Vadamos finally fulfilled the potential that his trainer Andre Fabre always believed he possessed when claiming his maiden Gr1 win in the Prix du Moulin (8 furlongs) at Chantilly last month. Indeed, such is the regard in which Fabre holds Vadamos that he once labelled him a potential champion and compared him to his former stable star Manduro with whom he shares the same sire, Monsun.
