First Seal Ready For VIC Debut

Thursday, 13th October 2016

Classy Sydney mare First Seal (Fastnet Rock-Episode, by Scenic) had her first look at Caulfield racecourse on Tuesday morning when working over 1200 metres with stable-mate Blowing Kisses. First Seal is set to run in Saturday's Gr2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield as a lead-up to her primary spring target, the Gr1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on 29 October. The Gr1 Flight Stakes winner made her 5YO debut when resuming with a respectable sixth in the Gr2 Golden Pendant (1500m) at Rosehill 19 days ago. "This will be her first run the Melbourne way but she seems to get getting on the Melbourne leg," trainer John Thompson told Sky Racing. "She worked well. She's happy, sound and fitter for the run. She seems to handle (the anti-clockwise direction), but you never know until you race." As the highest rated mare in the Tristarc, First Seal will carry top weight of 58.5kg. The China Horse Club-owned mare will be ridden by Blake Shinn and has drawn midfield in barrier 8.
