TRSA Appoints New Industry Track Manager

Thursday, 13th October 2016

Thoroughbred Racing SA (TRSA) has bolstered its support to South Australian racing clubs with the appointment of a new Industry Track Manager. John Tonani, currently the SAJC's track manager at Morphettville, will take up the position on Monday 17th October and will be responsible for providing overarching guidance and advice to all of SA's racing clubs around the maintenance and development of their tracks. "Our racing tracks are the stage upon which our participants perform and, as such, they're absolutely vital to the success of our industry," said TRSA CEO Jim Watters. "The issues we have experienced at various Provincial and Country tracks has brought this matter into even sharper focus and while our club track managers are very committed and hardworking, only a small number have horticultural qualifications or have undertaken formal courses in turf or track management." He added: "Making someone of the calibre of John available to all racing clubs across the State will give them access to a highly qualified, professional and full-time resource that will help ensure we have better tracks consistently across more parts of the State."
