The Tin Man Wins Gr1 British Champion Sprint Stakes

Monday, 17th October 2016

On British Champions Day at Ascot in England on Saturday, Swettenham's dual Gr1 Kings Stand Stakes winning shuttler Equiano (Acclamation-Entente Cordiale, by Ela-Mana-Mou) celebrated an elite success when 4YO UK-bred gelding The Tin Man (Equiano-Persario, by Bishop of Cashel) scored by 1 length for trainer James Fanshawe in the £600,000 Gr1 British Champion Sprint Stakes (6 furlongs) for 3YO+, over fellow 4YO UK-bred geldings Growl (Oasis Dream-Desert Tigress, by Storm Cat) & Brando (Pivotal-Argent du Bois, by Silver Hawk). This was a well deserved maiden Gr1 victory for The Tin Man who has been racing consistently at the top level all season. This latest win improved his record to 6 wins (including the Gr3 Hackwood Stakes) and 1 placing (the Gr1 Haydock Sprint Cup) from 11 starts for £516,937 earnings.
