Scottish Doubtful Cup Starter

Tuesday, 18th October 2016

Godolphin stayer Scottish is likely to miss the Melbourne Cup in favour of the $2 million Gr1 Emirates Stakes (2000m) on the final day of the Cup carnival, reports racing.com. The 5YO Irish-bred son of Teofilo was a brave second to Jameka when making his Australian debut in last Saturday's Caulfield Cup. "Charlie was very happy with his run and thought we should definitely have another crack here - we came here to win races," said James Ferguson, assistant trainer to Charlie Appleby. "He is still in the Melbourne Cup but Kerrin McEvoy had a slight question whether he stays or not...the ten furlongs might be the key with him, as it is back home." He added: "The Emirates Stakes is looking more likely than the Melbourne Cup."
