Vadamos Takes A Spin At Valley

Tuesday, 18th October 2016

Champion jockey Damien Oliver partnered French star Vadamos in a workout at Moonee Valley yesterday morning ahead of Saturday's Gr1 WS Cox Plate, reports AAP. The Andre Fabre-trained Vadamos galloped over 1500 metres, running home his final 400 metres in 23.63 seconds. Oliver told racing.com: "I know we've got two outstanding horses at the moment in Winx and Harntell but he's probably the X-factor and one of a few that may be able to cause an upset." He added: "He's a beautiful horse and has a good turn-of-foot so I don't think you want to be leaving him out." Vadamos finally fulfilled the potential that Fabre always believed he possessed when claiming his maiden Gr1 victory in the Prix du Moulin (8 furlongs) at Chantilly last month. Indeed, such is the regard in which Fabre holds Vadamos that he once labelled him a potential champion and compared him to his former stable star Manduro with whom he shares the same sire, Monsun. Oliver will miss the ride on Vadamos in the Cox Plate due to suspension and will be replaced by champion Hong Kong jockey Joao Moreira.
