Holler To Relish Return To Valley
Trainer John O'Shea is hoping that Holler's affinity with the Moonee Valley circuit will see him put up a bold showing in Friday night's Gr1 Manikato Stakes. A winner of the Gr1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) in the autumn, Holler boasts 2 wins and 1 placing from 3 starts at the Valley, including a victory in the Gr2 Australia Stakes and a second in the Gr1 William Reid Stakes earlier this year. The son of Commands recently returned from an extended break in England after finishing seventh in the Gr1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. "There’s no doubt he races very well at Moonee Valley, and he will need to on Friday night,” O’Shea told Godolphin.com. “I deliberately left him in England after he ran at Royal Ascot and brought him back a couple of weeks ago and I’d say the trip has sparked him up. He’s come back to us in very good order." He added: “This is a very good field and he probably needs to find a length or two from where he was before going to England." Among Hollers 10 opponents in the Manikato are nine other Gr1 winners, including the world's best sprinter Chautauqua, Buffering, and Golden Slipper winner Capitalist. While O’Shea has plenty of respect for his rivals, he is expecting a typically honest effort from Holler. “His work this morning was very sharp and he’s always shown that liking for Moonee Valley,” he said.
