Rockolicious Wins Listed Rosemont Stud Stakes
At Geelong racecourse in Melbourne yesterday, Coolmore's Gr1-winning son of Danehill Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) added a black-type success when 5YO mare Rockolicious (Fastnet Rock-Rock Diva, by Woodman) scored by 0.5 length for trainer Darren Weir in the $120,000 Listed Rosemont Stud Stakes (1200m) for 3YO+ fillies & mares, over 4YO mare Zara Bay (Fastnet Rock-Legally Bay, by Snippets) & fellow 5YO mare A Lotta Love (Al Maher-Sadlers Brigg, by Montjeu). This was a maiden stakes victory for Rockolicious who improved her record to 5 wins and 3 placings from 17 starts for $247,070 earnings. Purchased by Darren Dance's Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock for $360,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Glastonbury Farms, Rockolicious is out of the Woodman mare Rock Diva, a daughter of three-time Gr1 winner Canny Lass (Canny Lad-Jesmond Lass, by Lunchtime). Canny Lass is a full-sister to Golden Slipper winner and outstanding sire Canny Lad from the grand producer Jesmond Lass. Canny Lad, who sired 50 stakes winners during his stellar career, was euthanised at his home at Woodlands Stud in June last year. This is one of the most coveted bloodlines in the Australian studbook with other family members including Darley's Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond Stakes winning sire Sepoy, champion filly Guelph, Queensland Derby winner Camarena, and Gr1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Camarilla.
