Australian Trip To Benefit Humidor
Humidor's current Australian campaign is one undertaken with an eye very much to the future, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Gr1 performer was on a plane to Melbourne on Wednesday night with the Gr1 Cantala Stakes (formerly the Emirates Stakes) over a mile at Flemington on Saturday week his target. "The main reason we decided to go over is for the experience and hopefully the trip turns a boy into a man," said Johno Benner, who trains Humidor with his partner Hollie Wynyard. "We want to be back in Australia next year for the Australian Cup and, dare I say it, the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups." He added: "We know he can stay and this trip can be the making of him. He still does a few things wrong, but he is getting better and this experience will certainly help him." Humidor (Teofilo-Zalika, by Zabeel), a winner of 4 of his 9 starts, gave a glimpse of his talent when finishing a creditable second in the Gr1 Livamol Classic last start. "He came home after that and had a quiet week and we've just kept ticking him over since," Benner said. "He's going really well and we're happy with his condition."
