Monday, 24th October 2016

At Moonee Valley in Melbourne, Arrowfield Stud's Gr1-winning high profile stallion Snitzel (Redoute's Choice-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) added a restricted black-type success when 2YO colt Azazel (Snitzel-Allariza, by Linamix) scored by 1.75 lengths for trainer Tony McEvoy in the $250,000 Listed (Restricted) Inglis Banner (1000m) for 2YOs, over 2YO gelding Can't Remember (Statue of Liberty-Sachariste, by Fusaichi Pegasus) & fellow 2YO colt Ephesian (Fastnet Rock-Livealifeoflove, by Hennessy). Azazel, a $310,000 purchase by McEvoy Mitchell Racing at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud, commenced his career in perfect fashion with 1 win from 1 start for $139,500 earnings. Trainer Tony McEvoy confirmed Azazel would now head to the Gr3 Maribyrnong Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on 5 November. "He really let down beautifully late; he's a quality horse," McEvoy told racing.com. "I've got a really good batch of babies and he has been at the pointy end all the way through and just continued to impress me and step up to the plate." He added: "He's a big strong horse...I think we will go to the Maribyrnong and then prepare him for the autumn."
