First Course Wins Listed Sale Cup

Monday, 24th October 2016

At Sale in Victoria on Sunday, Arrowfield Stud's Gr1-winning high profile stallion Snitzel (Redoute's Choice-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) added a black-type success when 8YO gelding First Course (Snitzel-Short 'n' Sweep, by End Sweep) scored a narrow 0.1 length win for trainer Ken Keys in the $150,000 Listed Sale Cup (1600m) for 3YO+, over 4YO gelding Cool Chap (High Chaparral-Cherishing, by Johannesburg) & 5YO mare Manageress (Magnus-Who's in Charge, by The Commander). This was a long overdue maiden stakes victory for First Course who improved his record to 6 wins and 15 placings (including the Listed VRC Doncaster Stakes) from 58 starts for $369,950 earnings. First Course was purchased by his trainer Ken Keys for $90,000 at the 2010 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Armidale Stud.
