Monday, 24th October 2016

At Riccarton in New Zealand, Waikato Stud's Cox Plate winning stallion Savabeel (Zabeel-Savannah Success, by Success Express) added a black-type success when 3YO colt Hall Of Fame (Savabeel-Around the Clock, by Galileo) bounded clear for an emphatic 5 length win for trainers Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards in the NZ$70,000 Listed Canterbury Stakes (1600m) for 3YOs, over 3YO geldings Stephenstihls (Smart Missile-Lovetheoneyourwith, by Tale of the Cat) & Cobblertothestars (Jimmy Choux-Celestial, by Traditionally). Hall Of Fame, who was purchased by David Ellis' Te Akau Racing for $230,000 at last year's NZB Ready To Run Sale of 2YOs, improved his record to 3 wins and 2 placings from 5 starts for NZ$63,825 earnings. From the Galileo mare Around The Clock, Hall Of Fame hails from the famous Leica family of Victoria Derby winners Nothin' Leica Dane and Redding, New Zealand Derby winner Leica Guv, Gr1 Australian Guineas winner Light Fantastic, Australian Derby winner Leica Lover, and Australian Oaks winner Leica Smile. Hall Of Fame will have his next start in the 44th running of the Gr1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton on 5 November.
