Dual Derby winner Harzand (Sea the Stars-Hazariya, by Xaar) has been retired to stand alongside his sire Sea The Stars at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud in Ireland, reports Racing Post. "The Aga Khan Studs are delighted to announce that Harzand will be another exciting new addition to the roster of Gilltown Stud for the 2017 breeding season," an Aga Khan Studs statement said. "The handsome son of Sea The Stars achieved an exceptional feat when winning both the Epsom and Irish Derbys, making him the leading colt of his generation in Europe over the classic distance of a mile-and-a-half." Bred and owned by His Highness the Aga Khan, Harzand was trained by Dermot Weld to win 4 of his 7 starts including the English & Irish Derbys. His final race start saw him finish ninth to Found in the Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Chantilly.
