Hasselhoof In Good Shape

Wednesday, 26th October 2016

Highly regarded Kiwi galloper Hasselhoof (Tavistock-Alpine, by Zabeel) has done well during his time off following his third placing in the Gr1 Livamol Classic at Hastings earlier this month, reports NZ Racing Desk. The 5YO contested the final leg of the Hawke's Bay Triple Crown off the back of two sprint outings, having missed a planned lead-up in the Listed Karaka Classic due to a heavy track at Pukekohe. "He's come back great and he's bouncing out of his skin," said Donna Logan, who trains in partnership with Chris Gibbs. Hasselhoof may go to Trentham on 3 December for the Gr1 Captain Cook Stakes with his long-term aim being the Gr1 Auckland Cup. "It's all about trying to get him into it with the right weight," Logan said. The NZ$500,000 Gr1 Auckland Cup (3200m) will be run at Ellerslie on 11 March, 2017.
