No Decision Yet On Capitalist Target
Golden Slipper winner Capitalist submitted a smart piece of work up the Flemington straight yesterday but a decision about which race he targets next is yet to be made, reports AAP. Capitalist was a late withdrawal from last Friday night's Gr1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on account of the wet ground, which co-trainer Peter Snowden says he simply doesn't handle. "He was ready to go but I had no other choice. After walking the track I knew it was too soft for him," Snowden told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. Snowden says he is now weighing up whether to run the star colt against his own age group in Saturday's Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, or wait for the Gr1 Darley Classic against open class sprinters a week later. "It was good to give him a bit of a look this morning and I was happy with what I saw; he worked nicely," he said. "I think he will be very competitive on Saturday or Saturday week, whichever race we run him in." He added: "I need to talk to the owners today or tomorrow and I'll make a call at acceptance time as to what we are going to do."
