Le Romain Wins Gr1 Cantala Stakes

At Flemington in Melbourne, Gr1-winning Darley shuttler & 2007 Gr1 Kentucky Derby runner-up Hard Spun (Danzig-Turkish Tryst, by Turkoman) celebrated an elite success when 4YO gelding Le Romain (Hard Spun-Mignard, by Strategic) scored by 1 length for trainer Kris Lees in the $1 million Gr1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) for 3YO+, over 5YO UK-bred gelding McReery (Big Bad Bob-Dolma, by Marchand de Sable) & 4YO entire Tivaci (High Chaparral-Breccia, by Fastnet Rock). This was the second top-flight success for Le Romain who improved his record to 4 wins (including the Gr1 Randwick Guineas) and 7 placings (including the Gr2 Tramway Stakes & Gr2 ATC Hobartville Stakes) from 13 starts for $1,506,325 earnings.
