At Tokyo racecourse in Japan, 5YO entire and reigning Japanese Horse of the Year Maurice (Screen Hero-Mejiro Frances, by Carnegie) registered the fifth top-flight win of his brilliant career when scoring by 1.5 lengths for trainer Noriyuki Hori and jockey Ryan Moore in the Gr1 Autumn Tenno Sho (10 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 4YO entire Real Steel (Deep Impact-Loves Only Me, by Storm Cat) & 5YO entire Staphanos (Deep Impact-Kokoshnik, by Kurofune). Maurice confirmed his status as one of the best racehorses in the world with this latest victory which boosted his impressive record to 10 wins (including the Gr1 Champions Mile, Gr1 Hong Kong Mile, Gr1 Kyoto Mile Championship & Gr1 Yasuda Kinen) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 Yasuda Kinen) from 17 starts. Winning jockey Ryan Moore told Sky Sports: "He's a very good horse, he's strong at a mile and very hard to beat. He's got a good turn of foot and he was dominant." he added: "He couldn't have been more impressive. He has a big heart, big lungs and at a mile he could go further so we weren't too concerned about the distance."
