Gr1 Winning Mare To Resume Saturday
Trainer Kelly Schweida is hopeful his decision to abort a Melbourne spring campaign with Miss Cover Girl will pay dividends in Saturday's Gr3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm, reports Racing Queensland Webnews. Miss Cover Girl (Monashee Mountain-Tolart, by Show a Heart) was being considered for the Gr1 Myer Classic at Flemington before Schweida called a halt to her spring campaign. "She only had a short time off last preparation and I just wasn't happy she was going well enough to go to Melbourne," Schweida said. The 5YO has had two barrier trials ahead of her return including her latest at Deagon on Tuesday which pleased Schweida. "It was a good trial and she was only in it to get some conditioning," Schweida said. "It's a very strong field with a lot of chances but I'm confident she'll run well." Miss Cover Girl, who hasn't raced since claiming the Gr1 Tatt's Tiara at Eagle Farm in June, is being aimed at the Magic Millions carnival in January. "She's eligible for the Magic Millions Cup, the QTIS race and the fillies and mares race but we'll see how she's going before we finalise our plans," Schweida said.
