Sister To Melbourne Cup Winner Retired

Friday, 2nd December 2016

Penthouse Princess, a sister to Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance, has been retired, reports racing.com. Caulfield trainer Henry Dwyer, who purchased the 4YO daughter of Pentire and Royal Successor (Mr Prospector) for $110,000 at the 2014 NZ Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale, said her future was now in the breeding barn. "Penthouse Princess was a lovely filly, but unfortunately she ran through a fence and then she's had any number of issues since then," Dwyer said. "We got her to the races for a couple of runs but she was never sound and never showed the real ability she had. I thought she had good city-class ability." Dwyer added: "We had her back in work and she did a tendon so she went up to the Hunter Valley [Arrowfield Stud] to be served by Dundeel - to keep it in the Kiwi family."
