Rebel Dane Arrives In Hong Kong

Tuesday, 6th December 2016

Rebel Dane (California Dane-Texarcana, by More Than Ready) has touched down in Hong Kong ahead of Sunday's Gr1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin. The last-start Gr1 Manikato Stakes winner arrived in the former British colony at approximately midnight Australian time. "Today [Monday] is going to be an interesting day, obviously he has to get over the flight and settle in so the next 24 hours is critical," trainer Gary Portelli told Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday. "We have done everything we need to do with his track work; he doesn't need any more gallops. We just have to get him acclimatised, and make sure he's eating and drinking." He added: "He'll just have an easy week and hopefully he will be ready to explode on Sunday." The barrier draws for Sunday's international race meeting are scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
