Telegraph Option For Turn Me Loose
Top Kiwi galloper Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj-Indomitable, by Danehill) could return to action in next month's Gr1 Telegraph Handicap at Trentham ahead of another Australian campaign, reports NZ Racing Desk. “They might go a bit quick for him, but we want to give him a run here,” said Murray Baker, who prepares the horse with Andrew Forsman. Turn Me Loose has two Group One assignments on his programme in Melbourne next year. They are the Orr Stakes at Caulfield on February 11 with the Futurity Stakes on the same track a fortnight later. He ran fourth when resuming in the Orr last year, before winning the Futurity. Voted New Zealand's champion sprinter and middle distance horse last year, Turn Me Loose had just two starts during the spring resulting in eight place finishes in the Gr2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) and Gr1 Darley Classic (1200m) in Melbourne - distances which are short of his best. “There just weren’t the right races for him at that stage of the carnival, but it got him back in the groove and we’re really happy with him,” Baker said.
