Highlad Returns To Cambridge Quarters
Current New Zealand Derby second favourite Highlad (High Chaparral-My Lady's Chamber, by Arena) is back in work with Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, reports NZ Racing Desk. The son of High Chaparral is rated a $10 chance for the blue riband classic, with Sacred Elixir the market leader at $5. Highlad won the Listed Wanganui Guineas in September before crossing the Tasman for a spring campaign that yielded a third place finish in the Listed UCI Stakes at Flemington. The highly regarded 3YO, who hails from the same female family as Gr2 Magic Night Stakes winner Regal Chamber and her Gr1 Coolmore Classic winning daughter Regal Cheer, was last seen finishing down the track (8th) in the Victoria Derby in October. Meanwhile, Gr3 Ethereal Stakes winner and VRC Oaks placegetter Eleonora, Gr2 Danehill Stakes winner Saracino, and Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes winner Luna Rossa, will also be back in the Baker-Forsman stable this week.
