Admiral Wins Listed Conquering Stakes
At Launceston in Tasmania yesterday, Gr1-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed Vinery Stud stallion Mossman (Success Express-Lichen Lady, by Twig Moss) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Admiral (Mossman-Reunification, by West Quest) scored by 0.2 length for trainer Barry Campbell in the $100,000 Listed Conquering Stakes (1400m) for 3YO+, over 6YO gelding Hellova Street (Helike-Butter Street, by Secret Savings) & 4YO gelding Jerilderie Letter (Bushranger-Pirate's Sirene, by Portland Pirate). This was back-to-back Conquering victories for Admiral who improved his record to 14 wins (including the Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes, Listed George Adams Plate, Listed Tasmanian Guineas, Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes & Listed Elwick Stakes) and 5 placings (including the Listed TTC Newmarket Handicap & Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes) from 24 starts for $674,900 earnings. Trainer Barry Campbell said Admiral would have his next start in the Listed Tasmanian Stakes (1600m) at Launceston. "He proved he’s lost nothing from his four-year-old season so we will keep pushing on to weight-for-age races because they are the only suitable events for him here in Tassie," Campbell said.
