Perfect Reflection Ready For Step Up In Trip

Wednesday, 14th December 2016

William Pike is confident Perfect Reflection (More Than Ready-Reflected Image, by Bluebird) will run out a strong 2100 metres in Saturday’s Gr2 Ted van Heemst Stakes at Ascot, reports the West Australian. It will be the first time that the Gr1 winning mare has raced beyond 1800 metres. "I’m very keen to get her over the ground,” Pike said. “It’s a little bit of an unknown, but the key for me is to get her to relax and conserve some energy early. If I can get her to settle she will run it out." He added: "A bit further might just be what she’s looking for.” Perfect Reflection, whose dam Reflected Image won the 1999 West Australian Oaks (2400m), is coming off third placing behind Stratum Star and Scales of Justice in the Gr1 Kingston Town Classic over 1800m. “She’s still going well,” Pike said. "I think we bumped into a couple of exceptional ones [Stratum Star and Scales Of Justice] the other day."
