Boxing Day Outing For Well-Bred Mare
The well-related Chispa De La Vida (Keeper-Zarzino, by Zabeel) will make her next appearance on her home track on Boxing Day, reports NZ Racing Desk. "She's come through her last race really well and she'll run in a Rating 65 mile here," Awapuni trainer Tony Kaye said. By Cambridge Stud stallion Keeper, Chispa De La Vida is a half-sister to recently retired Victoria Derby & Rosehill Guineas winner Tarzino. A winner of 1 of her six starts, Chispa De La Vida is coming off a third place finish over 1600m at Waipukurau. "I really expected her to win, but she just got a bit too far back," Kaye said. "She's got the ability, but she's quite a petite mare and she needs her races spaced." Chispa De La Vida and Tarzino are out of the Zabeel mare Zarzino and descend from the same female line as three-time Gr1-winning stallion Sky Chase, sire of 1996 Melbourne Cup and Cox Plate winner Saintly.
