Gr1-Winning Import Transferred To Weir Yard

Thursday, 15th December 2016

French-bred galloper Gailo Chop (Deportivo-Grenoble, by Marignan) will continue his racing career under the astute tutelage of champion Victorian trainer Darren Weir. The 2015 Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes winner, who has not raced since finishing seventh in the Gr1 Dubai Sheema Classic in March, has recovered from a tendon injury and is close to returning to work. "Gailo Chop's very interesting. He's undergone tendon rehabilitation...and it's gone very well," co-owner Terry Henderson of OTI Racing told racing.com. "He'll be back in work, full bore, in about three or four weeks. He may miss the Australia Cup, but he'll be ready for later autumn, early winter." Henderson added: "A race like the Hollindale, or the Doomben Cup, looms for that horse."
