Oaks Winner Back In Work

Friday, 16th December 2016

Gr1 winner Sofia Rosa (Makfi-Bislieri, by Encosta de Lago) is back in work and being prepared for late summer and autumn campaign that will see her race on both sides of the Tasman, reports theinformant.co.nz. Crowned New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year last season courtesy of her wins in the Gr2 ARC Royal Stakes & Gr3 Lowland Stakes, and a second in the New Zealand Oaks, Sofia Rosa rounded out her 3YO year with a win in the Gr1 Australian Oaks in Sydney. However, the daughter of Makfi failed to come up as a 4YO in the spring finishing unplaced in the Gr1 Memsie Stakes, Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes and Gr1 Turnbull Stakes in Melbourne. "Sofia Rosa is back at Stephen Marsh's stable after a break," tweeted Bruce Perry, bloodstock manager for owner Lib Petagna. "Looks a different mare to when in Melbourne. Target Te Rapa/Sydney."
