Choisir Colt Wins South African Debut

Monday, 19th December 2016

Australian-bred colt Sir Frenchie (Choisir-Volando, by Viscount) made the perfect start to his career when winning on debut at Kenilworth in South Africa on Saturday. Trained by Justin Snaith and ridden by star jockey Piere Strydom, Sir Frenchie let down with a brilliant turn of foot reminiscent of his multiple Gr1-winning sire Choisir (Danehill Dancer) to score a comfortable 2 length win in a 2YO maiden plate over 1000m. Purchased for $82,500 by Paul Lafferty at the 2016 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale from the draft of Attunga Stud, Sir Frenchie is out of the Viscount mare Volando and hails from the family of Gr1 Easter Handicap winner Albany Reunion, French Gr1-winning sire Northjet, dual Gr3 winner Royal Discretion, and stakes winners Fast Dragon, Vezalay, and Rock Robster.
