Blue Blooded Colt Set For Debut

Tuesday, 20th December 2016

Beautifully bred and highly valuable 3YO colt Shackleton is set to make his debut in the Tab Rewards Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm in Sydney tomorrow. Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott on behalf of a high profile syndicate that includes Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables, Coolmore Stud and Werrett Bloodstock, Shackleton was purchased for $1.35 million at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Scone-based nursery Kitchwin Hills. By former champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock, Shackleton is the fifth foal to race from the Listed ATC Gimcrack Stakes-placed filly Wiener, a More Than Ready half-sister to Arrowfield's Gr1-winning sire Snitzel, emerging young sire Hinchinbrook, and Gr3 winner Viennese. Shackleton, who will be ridden by Tim Clark, has been fitted for his debut with a recent barrier trial win.
