Perfect Reflection No Certainty To Run In Cup

Tuesday, 20th December 2016

Owner-breeder Bob Peters says he is yet to decide whether star mare Perfect Reflection will step up to 2400 metres for the first time in the Perth Cup, reports the West Australian. Perfect Reflection gave Peters, jockey William Pike and co-trainer Grant Williams their third straight win in Saturday's Gr2 Ted Van Heemst Stakes (2100m) when she reeled in runaway leader Fathoms Of Gold in the shadows of the post. Delicacy was successful last year and Elite Belle saluted in 2014. While Pike is confident Perfect Reflection will run out a strong mile-and-a-half, Peters is not convinced. "I'm not sure yet," said Peters, when asked if Perfect Reflection would tackle the Perth Cup. "She'll have the same weight as Delicacy and she's not Delicacy, so we'll see." The Gr2 Perth Cup (2400m) will be run at Ascot on 31 December.
