Sydney Autumn Target For Oaks Winner

Tuesday, 20th December 2016

Meanwhile, Chocante's stable-mate and last season's Australian Oaks winner Sofia Rosa (Makfi-Bislieri, by Encosta de Lago) will be aimed at the Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes in Sydney in the autumn. "She'll kick off in the NRM Sprint [Gr1] in February and the obvious goal for her would be the Queen Elizabeth Stakes," trainer Stephen Marsh told NZ Racing Desk. "As long as she comes up well that's the race to have a crack at. She never came up at all in the spring, but she looks fantastic now." The $4 million Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) is the showpiece event of The Championships in Sydney and will be run at Royal Randwick on 8 April.
