Young Stallion Dies

Tuesday, 20th December 2016

Young stallion Time For War (Snitzel-Lady Zabelia, by Zabeel) died of a suspected colic attack at his home at Kitchwin Hills on Sunday morning, reports AAP. A dual Gr2 winner of the ATC Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and BRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1350m), Time For War had served two seasons at stud. Stud manager Mick Malone said Time For War's sudden passing had shocked everyone on the farm. "Time For War was a gentleman, and a pleasure to work with," Malone said. "After being underbidder on him as a yearling and following him throughout his career, then purchasing him at the end of his racing life from Scott Darby and his team of loyal supporters, it's just hard to believe this has happened." He added: "He was shaping as everything we had hoped for. Time For War was the closest resemblance to his father Snitzel as I have ever seen, and his foals now follow on, in type and attitude." The well bred Time For War hailed from the family of champion Australian racehorse Might And Power, champion Hong Kong galloper and Widden Stud stallion Lucky Owners, as well as 4-time Gr1 winning filly Mosheen.
