New Legislation To Create Independent RV Board
The Victorian Government has announced that it will amend the Racing Act so that Racing Victoria will have an independent board moving forward, reports racing.com. The Victorian Racing Minister, Martin Pakula, will introduce legislation in the New Year to change the way RV directors are selected. The aim is to have a board that is independent, diverse and free of any potential conflicts of interest. "It is no longer appropriate for the board of Racing Victoria to be chosen by the people and organisations that it regulates," Pakula said in a statement. "Racing is an industry which employs tens of thousands of Victorians and is worth hundreds of millions of dollars." Pakula added: "It is vital that an industry of such importance has a modern and independent governance structure to match."
