Perfect Reflection Allotted Top Weight For Perth Cup

Wednesday, 21st December 2016

Perfect Reflection has been allocated top weight of 59kg for the Perth Cup, despite not being a guaranteed starter, reports the West Australian. Owner-breeder Bob Peters says he will monitor the 5YOs condition in coming days before making a decision. "It's still up in the air if she'll start," Peters said. "She faces a difficult task to concede 5kg to Kia Ora Koutou. There's also a 6kg turnaround against Ihtsahymn." Peters added: "We also want to take Perfect Reflection's condition into account. Her progress will be monitored before the decision on a cup start. Final acceptances are not until early next week (Tuesday), but our intentions on a start will be confirmed well before then." Perfect Reflection would need to match the weight-carrying record set by the Peters owned Delicacy to win the Cup last year. Delicacy became the highest weighted mare to win the Perth Cup in its 129-year history when carrying 59kg. The Gr2 Perth Cup (2400m) will be run at Ascot on 31 December.
