Valley Possible Debut Venue For Oscietra
Co-trainer David Hayes says Oscietra, the first foal of champion sprinter Black Caviar, could make her debut at Moonee Valley on New Year's Eve, reports racing.com. The 2YO filly by Exceed And Excel, who has been aptly named Oscietra after one of the world's most prized and expensive types of caviar, is scheduled to make her second public appearance in a 900 metre jump-out at Flemington on Friday which will go a long way towards determining her likely starting point. "We are tossing up between Moonee Valley [New Year's Eve] and [Flemington] New Year's Day if she trials well," said Hayes, who prepares the valuable filly with son Ben and nephew Tom Dabernig. "If she doesn't we will back off her and race her a bit later. At this stage, she is favourite to be running in the late Christmas period." Hayes added: "I think she has come on nicely. Her feed intake has been great, we haven't really let her go but she is wanting to gallop so we will let her run a bit faster on Friday so it will be interesting." Oscietra looked to have inherited plenty of her mum's speed when winning her first Flemington jump-out on 9 December (watch her in the green below).
