Dabernig Bullish About Madeenaty Millions Prospects
Co-trainer Tom Dabernig is confident Madeenaty (Exceed and Excel-Set For Fame, by Reset) is the horse to beat in today's $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO (1100m) on the NSW Central Coast. The Shadwell Stud-owned filly was a brilliant winner of the Listed Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington on debut, before finishing a most unlucky third in the Gr3 Ottawa Stakes at the same course when the victim of an outside biased track. "She's the right sort of horse for that race, provided she handles the Sydney way of going. But she has done plenty of work that way of going and she is an exciting filly," Dabernig told Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday. "This is a stepping stone to the Gold Coast [Magic Millions 2YO Classic] race but she's done very well. Even when she was beaten down the straight [at Flemington] it was an excellent run because she was on the wrong side of the track." He added: "Of the raced brigade I'd like to think she has them covered, but the unraced ones are a query. But we're just hoping she has a good experience and pulls up well so we're on track for the Gold Coast." Following the Magic Million 2YO Classic on 14 January, Dabernig said the plan was to bypass the Blue Diamond Stakes with Madeenaty and focus on the Golden Slipper in Sydney.
