Canberra Joins Provincial Championships Series

Friday, 23rd December 2016

Racing NSW yesterday confirmed that horses trained in the Australian Capital Territory will join the Provincial Championships for the first time in 2017. "Incorporating ACT trained horses into the Provincial Championships will greatly strengthen the series of five races," said Racing NSW Chief Executive, Peter V'landys. "It will also provide greater opportunity for horses trained in South East to step up in that region's heat of the Country Championships." All Country and Provincial Championships Qualifying races will be run for $150,000 in 2017. The $400,000 Provincial Championships Final (1400m) will be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 8 April 2017 for horses qualifying through the five race series.
