Starspangledbanner Sibling Set For Debut
Will's Bid, a close relation to superstar sprinter and sire Starspangledbanner, is set to make his debut in an 1140m 2YO maiden at Geelong on Boxing Day. Trained by the Lindsay Park team of David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Will's Bid is a son of former champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) and was purchased for $800,000 by Spendthrift Australia at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Milburn Creek. Will's Bid is the ninth foal to race from the stakes-placed mare Gold Anthem (Made Of Gold), whose best progeny to date is 4-time Gr1-winning dual hemisphere sprinter and exciting young sire Starspangledbanner (Choisir). This is also the family of recently deceased Australian Oaks heroine Circles Of Gold, her multiple Gr1 winning sons Elvstroem and Haradasun, multiple Gr1-winner and world-class racehorse Highland Reel, and Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.
