Jameka Sharp In Jump-Out

Wednesday, 1st February 2017

Star mare Jameka (Myboycharlie) had her first and final jump-out yesterday before her scheduled seasonal reappearance in the Gr1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 11 February, reports Racing.com. The Caulfield Cup winner, who hasn't raced since pulling up lame when finishing 15th in the Melbourne Cup on 1 November, showed good pace when matching strides with smart sprinter Super Cash at Caulfield yesterday morning. "You could see she was moving very well, she was sharp out of the gates," said Ciaron Maher's assistant trainer David Eustace. "She was up and about and enthusiastic, which is what you want. She wasn't asked to do a whole lot late, just strolled through the line." Eustace added: "She'll have a nice gallop on Tuesday [7 February] that will put her right for 1400 metres. She carries a fair bit of residual [fitness] and is a tough mare, who is pretty clean in the wind. Ciaron didn't feel she needed two trials, and the Orr will be her way to getting her to peak fitness." Jameka's primary autumn target is the $1.5 million Gr1 Australian Cup (2000m) to be run at Flemington on 11 March.
