Kiwi-Bred Chasing Group One Start
New Zealand-bred 3YO Manolo Blahniq (Jimmy Choux-Floramour, by More Than Ready) will be chasing a berth in the Gr1 Australian Guineas when he runs at Caulfield tomorrow, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Tony Noonan-trained colt will move into contention for the March 4 feature with a bold showing in the Gr3 Manfred Stakes and his rider Jake Noonan couldn't be happier with the horse. Noonan said the son of Jimmy Choux, who finished close to some of Australasia's best colts in the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring, had been learning to settle better in his races. "We went in with a main aim to keep him settled," Noonan said. "Last prep, you'd say in the Coolmore he over-raced quite badly." He added: "We've done a lot of work in teaching this horse to settle while keeping in mind the Australian Guineas."
