Man From Uncle Wins Gr3 Eskimo Prince

Monday, 6th February 2017

At Randwick in Sydney, former Champion US 2YO & Coolmore shuttler Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie-Playa Maya) added a Group success when the gelding Man From Uncle (Uncle Mo-Derelique, by Danehill Dancer) scored by 0.3-length for trainer Anthony Cummings in the $150,000 Gr3 Eskimo Prince (1200m) for 3YOs, over the colt Guard Of Honour (Northern Meteor-Victory Cry, by General Nediym) and fellow gelding Generalissimo (Dream Ahead-Leanders Choice, by Redoute's Choice). Man From Uncle, $35,000 purchase at the 2015 Inglis Classic Sale took his record to 2 wins and 2 placings (including the Listed Hilton Stakes at Flemington) from 4 starts for $140,050 earnings. Trainer Anthony Cummings said the $1 million Gr1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on 4 March was an ideal target for Man From Uncle. "The Randwick Guineas would be the perfect race for him," Cummings said. "I think he is up to Group One standard over the mile but exactly where he finishes after that… I have no doubt that he'll run 2000m. I think that might finish up being his pet distance." He added: "He's just a high quality race horse."
