Flying Artie Second in Trial

Wednesday, 8th February 2017

Star colt Flying Artie (Artie Schiller-Flying Ruby, by Rubiton) has pleased trainer Mick Price after finishing second to Heatherly in an 800 metre trial at Cranbourne yesterday. A winner of 3 of his 6 starts, Flying Artie was crowned the World's Best 3YO Sprinter at the World's Best Racehorse ceremony in London two weeks ago courtesy of his brilliant win in the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring. He is set to resume in the weight-for-age Gr1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on 18 February. "He's had a good day out. He's a bit sparked up by being out here, which was the plan," Price told Racing.com. "Happy to bring him out here, time was good, horse is good, he had a bit of a blow. We've got two more opportunities with him fitness-wise, this Saturday and next Tuesday before the Lightning." He added: "I'm pretty happy with him; he's had a beautiful prep and he's going well."
